Maryanne and Austin each have Master's of Arts and undergraduate degrees in Anthropology. Maryanne also has an undergraduate degree in Women's Studies, while Austin also a joint undergraduate degree in History. They are currently employed as researchers with the federal government. This presentation does not reflect the opinion of the Government of Canada, nor was any of the research funded by, or prepared for, their current jobs. This presentation is related to research done in their graduate programs. They have two children, a dog and cat, and reside in Ottawa. Lecture The Pagan community is building bridges between its solitary practioners, organized (and disorganized) groups and traditional practioners. This presentation explores meritocracy and self-identity in Pagan communities, and the ways diverse views on religious practice are sharing space in community settings. This presentation is derived from research conducted during the authors' graduate work in Anthropology. |
