Presenter Biography: Michel has been involved with the pagan movement since the late 60's when he translated some of Alistair Crowley's books in French for the Ordo Templi Orientis, became an accomplished Tarot reader and undertook Zen training. During the 70's he actively participated to the revival of esoterism in general, and ceremonial magic specifically, through a long association with the Ancient et Mystique Ordre Rosae Crucis and the Ordre Martiniste. He became an adept of Daoism and Tantric Sex around the same time. He met his Qabalah teacher, Samuel Avital, in 1971 and has been studying and reflecting on Qabalah ever since. He is currently working to reconcile the scientific and the pagan worldviews. Speaker Topic: Reflections on ha-Qabalah A lot of misinformation has been circulating about the nature and use of Qabalah, since at least the middle of the 19th century with the emergence of the Golden Dawn movement and Aleister Crowley's writings and continuing to this day with the proliferation of the Kabbalah Centres that were successful in attracting highly visible members like Madonna. In counterpoint, Michel will offer his personal understanding of the Qabalah as it was taught to him more than 25 years ago. He will review many of the fundamental components of the Qabalah in light of his personal practice of Zen and Dao and will attempt to build bridges with the pagan and scientific worldviews. |
