Marija has a Bachelor's Degree with a major in History and a minor in Russian literature. Marija is a Balt and enjoys sharing information about this little known area of European culture. She grew up with stories about her ancestors and their beliefs and to this day has a deep and abiding love for her culture. She grew up in a household in which the gods were present, with little sayings that the God Perkunas was shooting his gun when there was a thunderclap.
Marija has studied and been involved in Lithuanian Pre-Christian Faith for the past 9 years. She has attended several conferences, such as the Indo-Romuvan conference held by the Internal Center for Cultural Studies, giving presentations at a number of them. Marija is the moderator of the Romuva mailing list, a long time member of Romuva, and is Coordinator for Eastern Canada for Romuva and maintains a website, Iron Crosses - http://www.geocities.com/~zemyna

Baltic Summer Festivals
A look at the summer rites & festivals from the summer solstice (Rasa) to the first Harvest (Zolines, August 15th). These festivals celebrate the sacredness of Rye, Hemp, the Bumble Bees, and the Earth herself. Workshop will include pictures of a recent trip to Lithuania in which Zolines was celebrated at the Ancient Beekeeping Museum. |
